But that's not all, because as well as looking unattractive, they can also cause inflammation or affect breastfeeding.<\/p><p>Sometimes, however, it is not only inverted nipples that are perceived as disturbing, but also nipples that have shrunk due to the ageing process or breastfeeding, nipples that are too small (linking nipple injections) or areolas that are unevenly sized or too large can be perceived as disturbing. The latter can be treated with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dr-montanari.de\/en\/range-of-services\/breast-2\/nipple-correction\/\">Nipple correction<\/a>\u00a0be remedied.<\/p><p>Both inverted nipples (also known colloquially as inverted nipples) and the formation of areolas are due to a genetic predisposition. It is possible to correct this change by making a small incision to loosen the milk ducts, pushing out the sunken nipple and fixing it with certain sutures. Even if the ability to breastfeed may already be impaired by the inverted nipple beforehand, it should be noted that the ability to breastfeed will no longer exist after this procedure.<\/p><p>In individual cases, injections of the nipples with hyaluronic acid may be an option instead of a surgical solution.
