Today, thanks to modern hyaluronic acid preparations and advanced injection technology, lips that are too thin can be naturally and beautifully adapted to the patient's needs.<\/strong>\n\nTreatment options vary depending on whether the lips alone are to be injected or the entire mouth area. Whether the lip should be given more volume or just a little more contour, for example at the edges of the lips. And whether the upper and lower lip should be included in the treatment. All of this is clarified in the preliminary consultation between the patient and doctor.\n\nThe easiest way to achieve fuller lips is by injecting a hyaluronic acid gel. This degradable tissue filler is injected into the lips using a thin needle. If only a small lip correction is required, this is usually done using an injection technique in which the filler is injected along the edges of the lips. This enhances the transition between the red of the lips and the surrounding skin. A new technique that is extremely gentle on soft tissue is injection with atraumatic cannulas (blunt needles) and is used depending on the treatment. Most patients find these atraumatic needles very comfortable in the mouth area. I like to use them when it comes to adding volume to the upper and\/or lower lip. All areas of the lips can be reached with two small puncture points. The natural shape of the lips should always be taken into account: curved upper lips with a fine heart-shaped curve in the centre and a slightly more pronounced lower lip are considered ideal.\n\nLip modelling is best performed under some form of anaesthetic. An anaesthetic cream can be used as a pre-treatment or even an anaesthetic injection can be given, as at the dentist. However, modern lip products such as Emervel\u00ae Lips or Belotero\u00ae Lip Edition already have an anaesthetic additive that makes the treatment much more pleasant and often makes anaesthesia superfluous.\n

All treatment procedures are uncomplicated, safe and cost-effective.<\/h3>\nHowever, it is important to know that swelling may occur in the treated area after the treatment, so cooling the lips for a short time is usually advisable. However, the symptoms are usually minor and short-lived. Blood-thinning medication, such as acetylsalicylic acid, should be avoided one week before the treatment. This can reduce, but not eliminate, haematomas. Patients who are prone to herpes labialis should take low-dose herpes prophylaxis to prevent an acute herpes flare-up. This means that medication can be administered for three days from the day of lip augmentation.\n\nThe shelf life of the preparations varies from person to person and is between 6 and 12 months. With regular repetition, an extension of the shelf life is observed in many patients.
