Liposuction / body contouring
Fundamentals of liposuction
Liposuction is a gentle method of permanently removing fat and removing stubborn fat deposits that hardly change even with considerable weight loss (diet) or sporting activities.
It is used to shape the figure and harmonise the body silhouette. Liposuction is not suitable for weight loss. However, the procedure is no guarantee against weight gain. Although the removed fat cells cannot form again, the remaining fat cells on the body can increase beyond normal levels if the calorie intake is excessive.
Targeted liposuction permanently removes the fat deposits that are perceived as annoying. They can occur anywhere on the body, but especially on the stomach, hips, buttocks, upper and lower legs, upper arms and in the face and neck area.

Where can you liposuction fat?
The most common problem areas in women are
- Belly
- Hip
- Buttocks
- Thighs (inner and outer sides - for example, saddlebags with circumscribed fat deposits on the outer thighs)
- Upper arms (often also referred to as bingowing or waving arms)
- Fat pads at the junction of the buttocks and thighs are possible (also known as banana deformity or banana fold).
Common problem areas for men are
- Belly
- Hips (Love Handles)
- male breast (e.g. Gynaecomastia)
Smaller problem areas such as the correction of a double chin or fat pads between the armpit and breast (so-called pre-axillary fat) can also be effectively treated with liposuction (for example as an alternative to liposuction). Fat-away syringe).
If liposuction is performed on the abdomen, this is often combined with a Abdominoplasty combined.
Liposuction is also used for the treatment of a fat distribution disorder (see also Lipoedema surgery) are used. However, there are some special features that must be taken into account in the treatment process.
How does liposuction work?
The conventional method of liposuction is the tumescent technique. A special solution is used to optimally prepare the tissue in the area to be suctioned so that the suction cannula can glide through better and less vascular damage is caused.
We also offer the essential Gentler vibration-assisted technologyalso known as Power Assisted Lipoplasty (PAL), for liposuction. The fine vibration of the suction cannula gently releases the fat cells from the tissue, which can then be easily suctioned out through cannulas just millimetres in size.
As not only the fat cells themselves, but also a large proportion of the locally injected fluid, can be removed in this way, the result can already be easily assessed during the operation. In addition, there is less need for painkillers, shorter treatment times, rapid recovery of well-being and ability to work. There is also less swelling and bruising.
For most patients, the operation is performed under local anaesthetic. Alternatively, a general anaesthetic is also possible.
What results are possible with liposuction?
Liposuction can be used to reduce or permanently remove unwanted fat deposits from certain areas of the body such as the stomach, hips, thighs, arms or face. The possible result depends on many individual factors (e.g. where the fat cells are to be removed, the condition of your skin, age, etc.). Therefore, a detailed consultation is of great importance.
As part of your preliminary examination, we will determine your individual factors that influence your possible outcome. We will explain to you what options or alternatives are available to you. Before and after pictures of similar patients will show you what your result could look like.
What are the disadvantages of liposuction?
Like any surgical procedure, liposuction has disadvantages and risks as well as aesthetic benefits. We will advise you on all possible individual factors during the preliminary examination and consultation. In general, the following potential risks are present:
- Infections in the wound area
- Bruising and swellingn after the operation
- Scarring (as a rule, relatively small scars occur
- Asymmetries and uneven results
- Temporary pain and changed perception
We will advise you on all possible individual complications and risks during the preliminary examination and consultation.
How long do the results of liposuction last?
The result is permanent. However, it should be noted that although the removed fat cells cannot form again, the remaining fat cells on the body can increase in size beyond the normal level if the calorie intake is excessive. This means that excessive energy intake will also lead to corresponding changes. If weight is gained after liposuction, fat deposits can form in other parts of the body.
How many kilos do you lose with liposuction?
Liposuction is used for body shaping and not for weight reduction. If you are aiming to lose weight, liposuction is the wrong method.
The amount of fat that can be removed during the procedure depends on various factors, including the areas of the body involved and individual conditions. The amount of fat removed is expressed in millilitres or litres - not kilograms.
Who is eligible for liposuction?
Liposuction is not suitable for everyone. Here are some important criteria:
- Age of majority
- Completed physical growth
- Stable weight
- Good general health
- Realistic expectations
- Mental stability
- Pre-existing conditions must be checked on a case-by-case basis
What does liposuction cost?

What needs to be considered after liposuction?
After liposuction, there are various points that should be taken into account in order to promote recovery and achieve an aesthetic result. The final result is usually visible after about 6 months. Full healing is completed after one year.
Pay attention to the following points:
Wearing compression clothing
To support skin shrinkage and body contouring, a specially adapted girdle should be worn for approx. 6 weeks after the operation. You will receive this from us. A special skin care programme can help to tighten the skin again.
Avoidance of strenuous activities
Rest is particularly important in the first few days. Strenuous physical activity should be avoided. We will clarify physical activities / strain with you individually.
Hygiene and wound care
The puncture sites must be kept clean and dry to avoid infection. We will provide you with all the important information and personalised care instructions for the time after your operation.
Nutrition and fluid intake
A healthy and balanced diet and sufficient fluid intake can support healing.
Aftercare
Regular check-ups with the attending physician are important to monitor the healing process and ensure that everything is going well. We are always there for you after your appointment.
