Jawline injections, also known as jawline contouring or jawline fillers, are a non-surgical Treatment used to define the jawline and create a more aesthetically pleasing profile. This treatment is becoming increasingly popular with people who want a more sharply defined jawline without having to undergo surgery.

What is the Jawline?

The jawline, also known as the chin line, is the lower contour of the face that forms the transition from the chin to the ears. A pronounced jawline is often seen as a sign of youth and attractiveness as it adds structure and definition to the face. A well-defined jawline can make the face appear slimmer and more symmetrical, contributing to an overall more harmonious appearance.

How does the treatment of Jawline work?

We can treat the Jawline with two different methods. With micro-focussed ultrasound or with filler injections. When injecting the jawline, fillers (so-called dermal fillers) are used, which are injected into the skin along the jawline. These fillers usually consist of hyaluronic acid, a natural component of the skin that binds water and creates volume. The injections can help to emphasise the chin, shape a sharp jawline and correct asymmetries.

During the non-invasive treatment with micro-focussed ultrasound, an ultrasound head glides gently over the skin and creates many small heat points in the deep layers of the skin. The lifting effect is achieved by this micro-focussed ultrasound, which provides controlled heat of up to 70°C. The temperature range achieved means that the existing collagen fibres are tightened (collagen shrinking) and the jawline is clearly contoured.

Advantages of Jawline injections and ultrasound treatment

  • Improved definition: The treatment provides a sharper and more defined jawline.
  • Non-surgical: No surgical intervention is necessary, which minimises or completely eliminates the risks and recovery time
  • Quick results: The results are visible immediately after the treatment. When using ultrasound, however, it takes 4-6 months.
  • Customisable treatment: The quantity and placement of the fillers can be customised to achieve the desired results.

The treatment process

Before the treatment

We will hold a consultation with you before the treatment. We will discuss your individual wishes and expectations. A thorough examination of the jawline is carried out. We explain everything about the treatment, possible risks and side effects.

During the treatment

Jawline injections usually take 30 to 60 minutes. First, the skin is cleansed and, if necessary, an anaesthetic cream is applied to make the injections as painless as possible. We then inject the filler along the jawline using fine needles. The number of injections and the amount of filler used depend on the desired result.

The Ultherapy treatment with micro-focussed ultrasound takes between 15 minutes and 20 minutes to treat the Jawline. You will be given a painkiller to take before the treatment. If necessary, an anaesthetic cream is also applied. The treatment begins with the marking of the area to be treated. The treatment head is then guided over the skin according to a special pattern. At the same time, the ultrasound imaging device provides an up-to-date monitor image of the treatment area at all times. This allows the treatment points to be directed precisely and in depth so that Ultherapy can be used in an optimal and targeted manner.

After the treatment

Slight swelling, redness or bruising may occur after the treatment, but this usually subsides after a few days. We recommend avoiding intense physical activity, sunbathing and alcohol consumption for the first 24 hours after treatment. The results of the injections can last up to 12 months, depending on the filler used and the individual skin condition.

After treatment with Ultherapy, you can go straight back to your everyday life. Apart from a slight reddening of the treated area, there are no restrictions for you. The results of the ultrasound treatment are visible after approx. 4-6 months and last up to two years.

Risks and side effects

As with any aesthetic treatment, there are potential risks and side effects associated with Jawline treatment, although these are rare. These include injections:

  • Swelling, redness and bruising at the injection sites
  • Infections
  • Allergic reactions to the filler
  • Asymmetries or uneven results

During treatment with ultrasound:

  • slight redness, swelling or tenderness in the treatment area
  • Minor bruising (but very rare)
  • Not to be used with known heat urticaria

Thanks to the preliminary examination and our years of experience, we can minimise the risk of complications.

How long do the results of the Jawline treatment last?

The results of the Jawline treatment can last for 6 to 12 months, depending on the filler used and the individual skin condition.

When treated with Ultherapy, the results last up to 24 months.

Is the treatment of the Jawline painful?

Jawline injections are generally perceived as less painful. Most patients only report a slight feeling of pressure or a brief stinging sensation during the injection. To increase comfort, an anaesthetic cream can be applied before the treatment. The use of fine needles also helps to ensure that the treatment is as painless as possible.

Treatment with ultrasound is also considered to be painless. Nevertheless, we are happy to give you a painkiller beforehand and can also apply an anaesthetic cream if required.

Conclusion

Jawline injections are an effective and minimally invasive method of defining the jawline and harmonising the face.

Treatment with micro-focussed ultrasound as a non-invasive procedure also leads to good tightening results in the area of the jawline.
