Mons veneris correction / mons pubis

When women go through the menopause or gain weight in general, it can happen that there is increased fat deposition in the area of the mons pubis. This is usually very disturbing for those affected, especially if it is accompanied by a sagging of the abdominal wall.

The mons veneris is the name given to the slight elevation above the female pubic bone consisting of subcutaneous fatty tissue. The mons veneris begins at the point where the labia minora meet. In its natural state, it is covered with pubic hair.

How can the mons veneris be corrected?

The mons pubis is corrected by suctioning out the excess fatty tissue in this area. This corrects the voluminous appearance and protrusion of the mons pubis. Sometimes this procedure is combined with a limited tightening of the lower abdomen to improve the shape of the mons pubis.

What happens during liposuction?

First, a large amount of tumescent local anaesthetic (TLA) is injected into the tissue to be treated. After a reaction phase, the excess fat cells are shaken loose using a vibrating cannula, also known as a power-assisted lipoplasty (PAL), and then suctioned out. The cannula is inserted through a few four millimetre incisions in the skin. The TLA, a mixture of saline solution, local anaesthetic and a vasoconstrictor drug, not only anaesthetises the tissue but also softens the fat cells. This makes liposuction particularly gentle. As liposuction not only removes the fat cells themselves, but also a large proportion of the locally injected fluid, the result can be easily assessed during the operation.

Is a mons veneris correction painful?

The minimally invasive operation itself is not painful due to the use of local anaesthesia and the administration of a mild anaesthetic. After the operation, you may feel slightly more sore muscles for a few days.

What do I need to consider after a mons veneris correction?

During the first few days after liposuction, care should be taken to ensure sufficient exercise and a high fluid intake. In addition, a girdle must be worn for up to 4 weeks in order to optimally support the tissue after the procedure. In the area of the mons veneris, a shorter period is often sufficient. Extensive sunbathing should also be avoided during this period.

How long can I not have sex after a mons veneris correction?

In general, there are no restrictions. As the area is very sensitive to pressure after liposuction, many patients find it uncomfortable for a few days.

When can I expect the final result?

The day after liposuction, you will be able to see the expected results. Afterwards, the tissue will initially swell again. Healing is usually completed externally after four weeks - without any physical restrictions during this time. Maximum slimming can be expected after four to six months, as internal healing takes a little longer.

Can I combine the mons veneris correction with other treatments?

Sometimes this measure is combined with a limited Tightening in the lower abdomen in order to improve the shape of the pubic mound.
