Breast augmentation is now one of the most common cosmetic surgical procedures worldwide. At the same time, the wishes of many patients have changed significantly in recent years. Whilst in the past the focus was often solely on breast size, today many women primarily want a result that looks natural, suits their body proportions and emphasises their individuality.
At the same time, breast surgery has also continued to evolve. Modern surgical approaches now aim to perform procedures as precisely and gently as possible, whilst minimising damage to tissue, without compromising on safety or aesthetic results.

What is Preservé™?
Preservé™ is not a new breast implant, nor does it replace traditional breast augmentation. Rather, it is a modern surgical approach designed to minimise damage to tissue, developed specifically for use with Motiva® implants. For suitable patients, the procedure can, in most cases, be carried out on an outpatient basis under local anaesthesia combined with twilight sedation. General anaesthesia is not required, but can of course be chosen if desired.
The focus here is on preserving the anatomical structures of the breast as far as possible during the operation and treating the surrounding tissue as gently as possible. To this end, various coordinated components are used to support the surgical procedure. These include, amongst other things, specialised dissection instruments that enable the implant site to be prepared in the most controlled and tissue-sparing manner possible, temporary insertion aids, which allow the implant to be inserted as gently as possible, as well as protective sleeves for implant insertion, which reduce direct contact between the implant and the skin and facilitate the most atraumatic insertion possible.

This is how a breast augmentation using Preservé™ is carried out
Every breast is unique – and the surgical plan should be just as personalised. That is why a Preservé™ breast augmentation does not begin in the operating theatre, but with a detailed, personal consultation. Together, we will discuss your wishes and expectations, take the time to answer your questions and assess your anatomical conditions. Only on this basis do we decide together whether Preservé™ is the right surgical method for you, or whether another technique or implant system might be more appropriate. Our focus is not on trends or standard solutions, but solely on achieving a harmonious result for you that looks natural in the long term.
How does the operation work?
Breast augmentation using Preservé™ is usually carried out under local anaesthetic and twilight sedation and takes between 45 and 90 minutes, depending on the individual circumstances. Once the planned implant position has been marked, a small incision is made in the natural inframammary fold. The aim is to ensure that the scar is as inconspicuous as possible.
In the next step, the implant site is prepared as precisely and gently as possible using specialised instruments and preparation techniques. The Preservé™ concept aims to preserve anatomical structures such as ligaments and soft tissue as far as possible, whilst minimising stress on the surrounding tissue.
Special preparation instruments and a temporary balloon system, amongst other things, are used to prepare the implant site in a controlled manner. This facilitates uniform and, as gentle as possible, expansion of the implant site and contributes to precise implant placement.
The Motiva® implant is then inserted into the prepared implant pocket using special insertion aids (Motiva® Channel Dissector, Motiva® Inflatable Balloon & Motiva® Insertion Sleeve). This helps to minimise direct contact between the implant and the skin and ensures that the implant is inserted as gently as possible. We will determine together which implant size and projection are suitable for you during your personal consultation.
After the operation, you will initially spend some time under medical supervision at our surgery. As soon as you are feeling well and all the medical criteria have been met, you and your companion will be able to return home.
Outpatient or inpatient?
Outpatient or inpatient?
Breast augmentation using Preservé™ can be carried out on an outpatient basis for most patients. Whether this is possible depends, amongst other things, on your general state of health, the extent of the operation and your individual circumstances. After a sufficient recovery period, you can return home on the same day, accompanied by a carer.
Should an inpatient stay be advisable from a medical point of view, or should you yourself wish to stay overnight, we will, of course, discuss this with you in advance.
Our aim is not to carry out as many procedures as possible on an outpatient basis. Our aim is to provide the safest treatment for you.
What can I expect after a breast augmentation using Preservé™?
The recovery period varies from person to person and depends, amongst other things, on your individual circumstances and the extent of the procedure.
In the first few days following the operation, you may experience swelling, a feeling of tightness and mild pain. These symptoms can usually be managed effectively and will gradually subside as the healing process progresses. A specially fitted compression bra supports the healing process and helps to stabilise the results of the operation.
During the first few weeks, you should avoid physical exertion and sport, and allow yourself plenty of time to recover. Regular follow-up appointments are, of course, an integral part of our treatment plan. In this way, we guide you step by step through the healing process and remain available to you at all times, even after the operation.
When will I be back on my feet?
We hear this question particularly often during consultations. There is no one-size-fits-all answer. Many patients feel much more resilient after just a few days and are able to resume light everyday activities.
Depending on your occupation, it is often possible to return to work after about a week. For physically demanding jobs, a longer recovery period may be advisable. Sport, heavy lifting and strenuous activity involving the upper body should generally be avoided for around six weeks. When you can resume your usual activities in full
Are there any risks?
Every operation carries general and procedure-specific risks. Although serious complications are rare, we would like to provide you with open and transparent information about them.
General surgical risks include, amongst others:
- Post-bleeding
- Wound healing disorders
- Infections
- Scarring
- temporary swelling and bruising
In addition, breast augmentation carries risks specific to the implants used. These include, for example:
- Capsular fibrosis
- Changes in the position of the implant
- Asymmetries
- Implant margins that can be felt or seen
- in rare cases, an implant replacement or follow-up surgery

Will I still be able to breastfeed after a breast augmentation?
Whether the ability to breastfeed is retained depends on various factors. In many cases, breastfeeding is still possible following breast augmentation surgery.
